The Merchant’s Wife

Widely known among the ranks,

Is a door down by the banks,

Dwelleth there a merchant’s wife,

Who thinks fondly of the knights,

Never has she sent away,

Haughty lord nor lowly gnave,

So long as they under kindly banner ride,

And keep her warm ’til morning’s nigh
